A leading M&E contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to join a major commercial construction project in Central London. This is a key leadership role on a high-profile site, supporting the Project Manager in delivering mechanical works safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards. You will play a crucial role in driving site performance, managing teams, and ensuring successful project delivery through to handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all mechanical construction activities on site
- Support the Project Manager in delivering works in line with programme and project objectives
- Manage labour resources, subcontractors, and site teams
- Ensure the highest standards of health & safety, quality, and compliance are maintained
- Oversee installation of mechanical systems including HVAC, pipework, and plant
- Monitor progress, maintain site records, and report on performance
- Ensure plant, equipment, and materials are managed safely and efficiently
- Support commissioning activities and ensure systems are ready for handover
- Maintain site discipline and promote a high-performance team culture
- Mentor and support apprentices and junior team members
- Identify and escalate risks or issues impacting delivery
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager on commercial construction projects
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services systems (HVAC, pipework, plant)
- Experience managing subcontractors and site teams on fast-paced projects
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental systems
- Mechanical trade background or relevant qualification in Mechanical / Building Services Engineering
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to work in programme-driven environments and deliver to tight deadlines
