Our client is a growing Cheshire based general contractor delivering safe, sustainable and high-quality projects. They place strong emphasis on excellent service for clients and stakeholders and specialise in commercial, residential, education and leisure refurbishments. Projects are delivered across traditional and design-and-build contracts, with values ranging from £250k to £10m+. The Role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team and play a key role in the financial management of refurbishment and retrofit projects. Working closely with project and leadership teams, the successful candidate will support the delivery of projects from pre-construction through to final account, ensuring commercial control and value are maintained throughout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the pre-construction process, including cost planning, tender analysis and contract negotiations
  • Manage project budgets, cost reporting and forecasting
  • Prepare and agree subcontractor packages and manage subcontractor accounts
  • Monitor and manage variations, change control and risk
  • Prepare valuations, applications for payment and final accounts
  • Work closely with project and site teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved
  • Build and maintain strong client and supply chain relationships

Key Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5-6 years experience in a Quantity Surveyor or similar role
  • Experience working on refurbishment and retrofit projects preferred
  • Strong understanding of traditional and design-and-build contracts
  • Excellent written, numerical and communication skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail

  • Strong understanding of the construction sector
  • Confident using commercial and cost management systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative, consultative approach
