Our client is a leading international contractor delivering complex, large-scale construction and engineering projects across the UK and Europe. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and high-quality project delivery, the company operates across a diverse range of sectors including power generation, advanced technology facilities, infrastructure, and mission-critical environments.
Due to continued growth across multiple sectors, our client is seeking an experienced MEP Planner to join the project delivery team based in Manchester, supporting a portfolio of power generation and technology-focused projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring detailed project programmes across mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) packages, ensuring projects are delivered in line with programme milestones, contractual requirements, and client expectations. Working closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and client representatives, the MEP Planner will play a key role in coordinating project schedules, identifying risks, and supporting successful project delivery from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.
The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure all planning activities are executed in line with project objectives, programme requirements, and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project programmes for MEP works across multiple projects
- Prepare construction schedules, progress reports, and programme updates using industry-standard planning software
- Monitor project progress and performance against agreed milestones and key deliverables
- Identify programme risks, delays, and critical path activities, implementing mitigation strategies where required
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to coordinate construction activities and sequencing
- Support tender and pre-construction activities by developing preliminary programmes and planning strategies
- Conduct programme analysis, including delay analysis and recovery planning where necessary
- Attend project meetings and provide planning and scheduling support to internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure project programmes are aligned with contractual requirements and client expectations
- Produce short-term lookaheads, progress tracking reports, and earned value analysis where applicable
- Assist in the preparation of extension of time submissions and programme-related contractual documentation
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, project controls processes, and industry best practice
- Proven experience as an MEP Planner on construction or engineering projects
- Experience within power generation, infrastructure, or technology/data centre sectors is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of MEP systems, construction sequencing, and project delivery processes
- Proficient in planning software such as Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project
- Experience developing and managing complex project programmes across multiple work packages
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate programme risks
- Degree-qualified or equivalent in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline
