Our client is a growing and highly respected MEP contractor delivering complex mechanical, electrical, and building services projects across the UK and Europe. With a strong track record across pharmaceutical, industrial, and data centre sectors, the business is known for delivering technically challenging projects in regulated and mission-critical environments.
Due to continued expansion, our client is seeking an experienced Operations Director to oversee and drive the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects across multiple regions and sectors. The role will be based in London, with ad-hoc international travel required to visit project sites across Europe as needed.
The successful candidate will take full responsibility for operational performance across the business, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with senior leadership, project teams, and commercial functions, the Operations Director will play a key role in shaping delivery strategy, strengthening operational capability, and supporting continued business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead overall operations across a portfolio of MEP projects in the UK and Europe
- Oversee delivery performance across pharmaceutical, industrial, and data centre sectors
- Ensure all projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to required quality standards
- Provide leadership and direction to project teams, regional managers, and site delivery teams
- Develop and implement operational strategies to support business growth and efficiency
- Monitor project performance, identifying risks, opportunities, and corrective actions where required
- Ensure consistent application of company processes, procedures, and delivery standards across all projects
- Support bid, preconstruction, and mobilisation activities for new projects
- Maintain strong client relationships and represent the business at senior level where required
- Drive continuous improvement across delivery, safety, quality, and commercial performance
- Oversee resource planning and allocation across multiple project sites
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Support recruitment, development, and retention of key operational staff
- Undertake ad-hoc international travel to project sites for operational oversight and client engagement
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a senior operational role within an MEP contractor environment (Operations Director, Regional Director, or similar)
- Strong background delivering complex MEP projects across pharmaceutical, industrial, and/or data centre sectors
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects across different regions simultaneously
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills at senior level
- Excellent understanding of MEP project delivery, commercial management, and programme control
- Experience working in UK and European construction markets is highly desirable
- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to drive operational performance and business growth
- Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills
- Degree-qualified or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or related discipline) preferred
