Our client is a general main contractor delivering a portfolio of mid-size construction projects across the education, healthcare, residential and retail sectors throughout the South East of the UK. They are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to support and oversee HSE compliance across multiple live sites.

The role involves travelling between projects on a structured weekly basis, typically spending time on-site each day across a rotating portfolio of sites ranging from Bristol in the west through to London, Oxford, Hertfordshire, Kent and Surrey. Due to the geographic spread of projects, daily travel is required and candidates must be comfortable working in a mobile role with full driving capability.

You will be responsible for monitoring, auditing and improving health and safety standards across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with legislation, company procedures and client requirements. Working closely with site teams and project management, you will play a key role in maintaining consistent HSE performance across all active projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee health, safety and environmental compliance across multiple live construction sites
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews
  • Monitor adherence to RAMS, statutory requirements and company HSE procedures
  • Support site teams with safety guidance, best practice and corrective actions
  • Investigate incidents, near misses and implement preventative measures
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and site inductions where required
  • Maintain accurate HSE reporting, documentation and audit trails
  • Ensure consistent application of HSE standards across all project locations
  • Liaise with site managers, project teams and subcontractors on safety performance
  • Support continuous improvement of company-wide HSE systems and culture
Requirements
  • Proven Health & Safety Manager or Advisor experience within main contracting
  • Background working across education, healthcare, residential or retail construction projects
  • Strong understanding of UK HSE legislation, compliance and site safety systems
  • Experience conducting audits and managing multi-site safety responsibilities
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent HSE certification) essential
  • Full UK driving licence and own vehicle required
  • Willingness to travel daily across multiple project locations
