Civil Design Engineer – Macclesfield Utilities – Hybrid
We are partnering with a cradle to grave project delivery partner specialising in planning, commercial and project management. Due to continued growth in their team, they are seeking an experienced Civil Design Engineer to aid with their development in Macclesfield.
Responsibilities
Pipeline Route & Hydraulic Design:
Develop detailed civil designs for large-diameter pipelines from the reservoir to distribution networks, ensuring efficient routing, gradient calculations, and hydraulic performance to meet project specs and regulatory standards.
Technical Drawings & BIM Coordination:
Produce and review construction-ready drawings, 3D models, and cross-sections using AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar, and collaborate with BIM teams to ensure clash-free, coordinated designs.
Ground Condition & Survey Analysis:
Interpret topographical surveys, geotechnical reports, and utility data to inform design choices, minimise risk, and support trenching, tunnelling, and directional drilling strategies.
Stakeholder & Regulatory Interface:
Liaise with internal teams, clients, landowners, and regulatory bodies to ensure all designs meet planning, environmental, and health & safety requirements from concept to IFC.
Specs, Standards & Sustainability:
Prepare technical specifications, design risk assessments, and ensure compliance with DWI, WRc, and local water authority standards, embedding resilience and sustainability into all design outcomes.
Requirements
Successful candidate must be chartered and/or hold a civil engineering degree or equivalent
Must have previous experience designing pipelines for Water clients
Must have 8-12 years experience in a similar role
Benefits
£60,000-£70,000 + 2 days working from home a week
