We are recruiting for an experienced Design Lead to join one of Europe’s leading data centre contractors on a major mission-critical project based in Blyth, England. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of design coordination and delivery across a flagship data centre project, working closely with design managers, BIM teams, consultants, and construction teams to ensure fully coordinated, buildable, and high-quality design solutions from pre-construction through to handover.

As Design Lead, you’ll be responsible for driving design development, managing coordination across disciplines, resolving technical issues, and ensuring all design deliverables align with programme, cost, and construction requirements in a fast-paced delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate all design activities across the project.
  • Manage design development from concept through to construction and handover.
  • Coordinate with BIM teams, consultants, and internal engineering disciplines.
  • Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, and technical submittals.
  • Ensure designs are fully coordinated, clash-free, and buildable.
  • Support change management, identifying design impacts on cost and programme.
  • Attend and lead design coordination meetings and workshops.
  • Support construction teams with technical design resolution on site.
  • Ensure compliance with project standards, H&S, and quality requirements.
  • Assist with as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and final handover documentation.
Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction, Architecture or related discipline.
  • 5+ years experience in design coordination or design management roles.
  • Strong background on large-scale construction projects (Data Centre, Industrial, Pharmaceutical, or Commercial).
  • Excellent understanding of design coordination, BIM workflows, and construction methodology.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design tools advantageous.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
