Children's Residential Support Worker - Full-Time Thaxted, Essex
We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Children's Residential Support Workers to join a well-established 5-bed mixed-gender children's residential home in Thaxted.
This is a full-time position, ideal for professionals who are passionate about supporting children and young people in a nurturing, structured, and safe environment.
The home supports children and young people aged 8-18 with learning disabilities, focusing on promoting independence, emotional wellbeing, and positive life outcomes.
The Role
As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you will:
- Provide high-quality, person-centred care to children and young people
- Support with daily routines, personal care, education, and social development
- Promote independence, positive behaviour, and emotional resilience
- Maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding and regulatory standards
- Support young people in community activities, appointments, and outings
- Work as part of a committed, supportive care team
Shift Pattern
- Two long days per week: 7:30am - 10:00pm
- One late shift per week: 2:30pm - 10:00pm
- Flexibility required in line with the needs of the home
Essential Requirements
- Must be aged 22 or over
- Full UK manual driving licence, held for a minimum of 2 years
- Right to work in the UK
- Fully flexible and reliable
- Strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to safeguarding children
Desirable
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it)
- Experience supporting children with learning disabilities, autism, or sensory needs
- Knowledge of positive behaviour support strategies
