A leading international bank is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join its Human Resources team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment supporting both local and expatriate payroll operations.
This role is critical in ensuring the accurate and compliant processing of payroll, overseeing tax returns, time and attendance systems, and supporting broader HR administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities- Process monthly payroll via ADP, including P11D, P60s, and statutory returns.
- Reconcile payroll data with pension files and general ledger (GL).
- Handle queries related to employee pay, loans, and benefits.
- Manage season ticket loans and manual payments in conjunction with the Operations team.
- Assist expatriate staff with tax returns, HMRC documentation, and NI applications.
- Ensure timely payments of PAYE, NI, and third-party remittances.
- Maintain payroll systems for starters, leavers, and staff changes.
- Monitor appraisal systems and time/attendance records (Darwinbox).
- Support the completion and submission of reports, control returns, and insurance-related data.
- Liaise with external providers such as payroll administrators, pension providers, and tax consultants.
- Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act and internal control requirements.
- Assist with contract renewals and prepare approval notes.
- Provide wider administrative support within the HR department as required.
- Perform ad hoc duties as delegated by the Head of HR.
- Proven experience in payroll administration, ideally within the banking or financial services sector.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Solid understanding of payroll systems and basic accounting.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
