Our client, a well-established precision engineering and manufacturing company based in Essex is currently seeking an experienced Manual Lathe Machinist to join their growing production team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist who enjoys working with precision components in plastics and metals and takes pride in producing high-quality engineering work in a busy workshop environment.

The Role

As a Manual Lathe Machinist, you will be responsible for operating manual lathes to manufacture precision parts while working from technical drawings and CAD models. The role will involve machine setup, machining operations, and quality inspection to ensure all components meet required specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operating manual lathes to produce precision-engineered components
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models
  • Carrying out grinding, milling, and assembly tasks where required
  • Setting up machines and adjusting tooling to maintain accuracy and efficiency
  • Performing quality inspections using measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment in line with health and safety regulations

Requirements

  • Proven experience operating manual lathes within a machining or engineering environment
  • Strong understanding of machining processes and tooling
  • Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings
  • Experience using hand tools and workshop machinery
  • Good numerical skills and attention to detail for precision work
  • A proactive attitude and ability to work both independently and as part of a team

This is a full time, permanent position working Monday-Friday with an early finish at the end of the week.
