Project Manager - Business Banking Digital & Mobile Banking Implementation

Location: Harrow / Hybrid

Contract: 12-month Fixed-Term Contract

Start Date: August / September 2026

Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum

Reporting to: Head of Digital & New Initiatives

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the end-to-end implementation of the Bank's new mobile and web-based business banking channel. This is a hands-on banking technology delivery role, responsible for taking the implementation from design and build through integration, testing, security assurance, customer migration, staged rollout, full release and transition into BAU.

The new digital banking channel will be based on Temenos Digital, integrated with the Bank's existing Finacle core banking platform. The successful candidate will own the integrated delivery plan and critical path, manage multiple technology vendors and the systems integrator, and ensure the implementation delivers a secure, compliant and high-quality customer experience.

This is not a generic IT Project Manager role. We are specifically looking for someone who has personally delivered a customer-facing digital or mobile banking implementation through to public release within a regulated banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Delivery
    • Own the integrated delivery plan across Temenos, Finacle, Group IT, the systems integrator and internal business and technology workstreams.
    • Manage the critical path, dependencies, milestones and delivery risks through to go-live.
    • Lead the project through all key stage gates, including: Design, Build, Integration testing, SIT, UAT, Security testing, Pilot, Staged customer rollout, Full production release, Hypercare and BAU transition.
    • Own the end-to-end integration between the digital banking platform and the core banking system.
    • Define integration test coverage with vendors and agree clear ownership for defect triage and resolution.
    • Proactively manage external dependencies, including Apple App Store and Google Play review cycles, as part of the critical path.
  • Vendor & Systems Integrator Management
    • Act as the Bank's principal delivery counterpart to Temenos, Group IT/Finacle and the systems integrator.
    • Manage multiple major technology vendors concurrently.
    • Hold suppliers accountable for contracted deliverables, acceptance criteria and agreed service levels.
    • Manage formal escalation, contractual change control, scope and commercial issues.
    • Challenge scope creep and unpriced change.
    • Maintain appropriate evidence and governance around integration defects, supplier accountability and commercial disputes.
    • Coordinate cross-vendor dependencies and ensure clear ownership of delivery outcomes.
  • Governance, Budget & Reporting
    • Own the integrated project plan, RAID log, milestones and critical path.
    • Manage project budget, resources, forecasts, actuals, accruals, committed spend and forecast-to-complete.
    • Quantify and actively manage risks rather than simply recording them.
    • Prepare and present Steering Committee, Management Committee and senior management/Board-level reporting.
    • Ensure project records and decisions are sufficiently robust to withstand internal audit and supervisory review.
    • Provide clear reporting on delivery status, risks, issues, dependencies, financial position and adverse news.
  • Regulatory, Security & Customer Outcomes
    • Ensure the implementation meets relevant UK regulatory and data-protection requirements.
    • Apply working knowledge of Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), UK GDPR and digital-channel obligations.
    • Support compliance with Consumer Duty, particularly in relation to customer understanding, customer support, data accuracy and digital journeys.
    • Commission and manage mobile application security testing, including penetration testing and, where applicable, source-code review.
    • Drive security findings through to an agreed remediation standard before release.
    • Ensure appropriate consideration of device data and completion of relevant Data Protection Impact Assessments.
  • Customer Migration & Go-Live
    • Lead customer migration planning and execution.
    • Own staged rollout and go-live readiness across technology, operations, customer service, risk, compliance and communications.
    • Coordinate legacy-channel retirement and associated customer communications.
    • Ensure operational readiness, including contact-centre training, support scripts, complaint handling, incident response and the digital support model.
    • Work with Marketing and Compliance on customer communications and migration messaging.
    • Lead the transition from implementation into BAU support and hypercare.

Essential Experience

We are looking for candidates who can clearly demonstrate the following:

  • Successful delivery of at least one digital or mobile banking channel through to public/customer release within a regulated banking environment.
  • Hands-on experience integrating a digital banking/channel platform with a core banking system, including involvement in the integration layer and cross-vendor dependencies.
  • Proven experience managing multiple tier-one technology vendors and a systems integrator concurrently.
  • Experience with formal supplier escalation, contractual deliverables, commercial change control and scope management.
  • Genuine end-to-end project ownership, from design and build through integration testing, SIT, UAT, security testing, pilot, staged rollout, full release and hypercare/BAU transition.
  • Strong experience owning integrated delivery plans, critical paths, RAID, budgets and project governance.
  • Confidence presenting to Steering Committees, senior management and Board-level stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of UK digital banking regulatory requirements, particularly SCA and UK GDPR.
  • Experience commissioning and managing mobile application security testing and driving findings through remediation.
  • Proven experience with customer migration, go-live and legacy-channel retirement.
  • Experience delivering customer-facing banking technology rather than solely back-office or internal technology implementations.

Highly Desirable

  • Direct implementation experience with Temenos Digital.
  • Experience with Finacle and/or Finacle-integrated banking environments.
  • Experience with both Temenos Digital and Finacle is particularly advantageous.
  • Experience with comparable digital banking/channel and core banking platforms will also be considered where the candidate has a strong track record of implementation delivery.
  • Knowledge of payment and third-party integrations such as Faster Payments, Confirmation of Payee and identity verification.
  • PRINCE2, PMP, MSP or Agile/Scrum certification.
  • Professional qualifications are desirable but will not substitute for relevant banking implementation experience.

What We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will be a delivery-focused Project Manager who is comfortable operating at the intersection of technology, banking operations, vendors, regulation and customer experience. You will need to demonstrate that you have personally delivered a customer-facing digital/mobile banking implementation—not simply managed a general IT project or worked within a banking environment.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can evidence:

  • A live digital/mobile banking implementation delivered to customers.
  • Digital channel-to-core banking integration.
  • Complex multi-vendor and systems integrator management.
  • Real customer migration and staged go-live experience.
  • Strong governance and senior stakeholder management.
  • Practical understanding of digital banking security and UK regulatory requirements.

Key Stakeholders

You will work closely with:

  • Digital, Technology and Product teams
  • Risk, Compliance and Information Security
  • Data Protection Officer
  • Legal, Procurement and Vendor Management
  • Internal Audit
  • Marketing and Communications
  • Programme Steering Committee and Management Committee
  • Group technology and information security functions
  • Temenos Finacle/Group IT teams
  • Systems integrator and third-party technology providers
  • Payment scheme and identity/verification providers

Practical Requirements

12-month fixed-term contract

Harrow / Hybrid

Start: August/September 2026

Salary: up to £80,000

Candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK.

Candidates must be comfortable committing to the full 12-month FTC.

Important Note for Applicants

Please only apply if you can demonstrate direct delivery experience of a customer-facing digital or mobile banking implementation in a regulated banking environment. Candidates whose experience is primarily general IT project management, internal technology delivery, or banking operations—with no evidence of delivering a digital/mobile banking channel through to customer release—will not be suitable for this position.
