A leading provider of outsourced housekeeping services to hotels across the UK is seeking an experienced Head Housekeeper to manage operations at a busy hotel in Central Leeds on a permanent, full-time basis.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the housekeeping function, ensuring exceptional cleanliness, team performance, and compliance with operational standards.

Role Overview

The Head Housekeeper will be responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the housekeeping department within a large hotel. This includes leading a sizeable team, maintaining consistently high room and public-area standards, ensuring effective training and development, and achieving operational and budget targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and inspire a large housekeeping team to deliver consistently high service standards.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with hotel management and staff.
  • Conduct regular room, floor, and public-area inspections to ensure exceptional cleanliness and quality.
  • Monitor housekeeping performance, productivity, and site budgets, contributing to cost efficiency.
  • Report weekly performance updates to the Operations Manager and hotel management.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of the housekeeping team.
  • Ensure team members are fully trained, productive, supported, and motivated through effective coaching and mentoring.
  • Manage staffing levels and daily housekeeping operations to meet hotel occupancy and business requirements.
  • Maintain full compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and company policies.
  • Promote professionalism, reliability, accountability, and a positive team culture.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational standards, efficiency, and guest satisfaction.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience as a Head Housekeeper in a large hotel is essential.
  • Previous experience managing a large housekeeping team within a busy, high-volume hotel environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of developing, motivating, and managing teams.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Confident using IT systems for scheduling, reporting, and team management.
  • Strong understanding of hotel housekeeping standards, room inspections, productivity, and quality control.
  • Skilled in delivering training and maintaining health and safety standards.
  • Flexible, proactive, and approachable, with a professional attitude and a sense of humour.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Salary & Benefits

  • Β£37,000 per annum.
