Chair of the Board Livv Housing Group

Location: Prescot, Liverpool City Region

Remuneration: £21,000 per annum

Time Commitment: Three to four days per month

We’re looking for a new Chair to lead our Board through a significant and exciting next chapter. We own and manage around 13,000 homes across Liverpool City Region and the North West, providing safe, warm homes for 28,000 customers. But we are much more than a landlord. We work alongside customers, local communities and partners to create places where people can flourish, access support, and build better opportunities for themselves and their families.

This is a high-impact Chair opportunity at a pivotal moment for Livv. This year, we launched our new Corporate Plan, Building a better future, setting out our ambitions to deliver better services, better homes, better opportunities and stronger communities. Our purpose is clear: to unlock potential and give people and communities opportunities to flourish.

We have recently received our latest regulatory judgement from the Regulator of Social Housing, confirming a C1 consumer grading, G2 governance grading and V2 financial viability grading. We are proud of our C1 consumer grading, which recognises the strong progress we have made in delivering services that are shaped by customer needs, insight and feedback. We are also honest about the work ahead. Our G2 grading confirms that we meet regulatory requirements, while recognising that further improvements are needed in assurance and treasury-related controls. Our V2 grading reflects the wider financial pressures facing the sector.

Our new Chair will provide the leadership, focus and challenge needed to support us back towards the strongest possible regulatory position. We have a strong platform, a capable executive team, committed colleagues, and a Board ready to support the next phase of improvement and ambition. As Chair, you will lead an effective and constructive Board through a period of change. Support and challenge the Chief Executive, and ensure we remain focused on strategy, governance, assurance, financial resilience and customer outcomes. You will help create the right conditions for strong decision-making, a strong team culture, clear accountability and positive relationships between the Board and Executive Team. You will also be an important ambassador for Livv, representing us with customers, colleagues, partners, stakeholders and the wider housing sector.

We are looking for someone who can bring visible, values-led leadership and who understands the importance of place, partnership and trust. We are ideally looking for an experienced Chair, committee Chair or senior non-executive with a strong understanding of good governance in a regulated environment. Social housing experience would be highly advantageous.

About You

  • Strong understanding of good governance and regulated environments.
  • Able to lead an effective Board and create a positive, constructive Board culture.
  • Skilled at supporting and challenging a Chief Executive and executive team.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to oversee performance, risk and financial sustainability.
  • Customer-focused, with a clear commitment to improving services and outcomes.
  • Able to provide strategic leadership through change, challenge and improvement.
  • Confident ambassador with strong stakeholder and partnership skills.
  • Understanding of social housing and associated regulation would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong personal integrity and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
