About the opportunity

Livingwell Recruitment is working with an established national healthcare organisation to recruit experienced ADHD Nurse Independent Prescribers to join its growing digital healthcare service.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mental Health Nurse or Nurse Independent Prescriber with a strong background in ADHD to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

The role focuses on ADHD medication initiation, titration and ongoing treatment reviews, supporting adults with a range of presentations, including complex mental health needs and coexisting conditions.

You’ll benefit from predominantly remote working, regular clinical supervision, meaningful consultation times and the backing of an established healthcare organisation, while having the opportunity to contribute to a developing and innovative service.

The role

As an ADHD Nurse Independent Prescriber, you'll provide remote consultations via video and telephone, supporting patients throughout their ADHD medication pathway.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting ADHD medication initiation, titration and post-stabilisation reviews
  • Prescribing safely and effectively in accordance with NICE guidelines and established clinical governance procedures
  • Supporting patients with complex presentations, including coexisting mental health and physical health conditions
  • Assessing and managing clinical risks, safeguarding concerns and appropriate escalation
  • Providing patients with advice on non-pharmacological strategies to support their treatment goals
  • Participating in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical supervision and audit activities
  • Supporting the duty prescriber rota, including clinical triage, urgent patient and GP queries and prescription requests
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records using electronic patient management and prescribing systems
  • Working collaboratively with clinical colleagues to maintain high standards of patient care
  • Contributing to continuous service development, clinical quality improvement and innovation

What we're looking for

  • Current NMC registration
  • Recognised V300 Independent Prescribing qualification
  • Minimum 12 months' ADHD prescribing experience, including medication titration and reviews within an established ADHD pathway
  • Previous experience working within mental health services, with a good understanding of psychiatric comorbidities
  • Strong understanding of clinical risk, safeguarding and the management of complex patient presentations
  • Confidence working autonomously, making sound clinical decisions and escalating concerns appropriately
  • Knowledge of NICE guidelines and safe prescribing practices
  • Strong communication skills and confidence delivering remote consultations
  • Good digital literacy and the ability to work effectively with electronic clinical systems
  • A proactive, compassionate and patient-centred approach to care
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) background
  • Significant experience working within adult mental health services
  • Formal training in adult ADHD assessment, diagnosis and treatment
  • Experience completing ADHD diagnostic assessments, including DIVA
  • Experience supporting adults with complex psychiatric presentations and comorbidities
  • Previous experience working within digital healthcare or remote prescribing services
  • Experience using SystmOne, EPS or similar clinical systems
  • Experience contributing to clinical governance, service development or quality improvement

We're particularly interested in experienced clinicians who bring strong clinical judgement, a sound understanding of mental health and a genuine commitment to delivering safe, evidence-based ADHD care.

Working environment and clinical support

The service places a strong emphasis on collaboration, professional development and maintaining high clinical standards.

You can expect:

  • A short daily morning clinical huddle to discuss patient care and service updates
  • Weekly multidisciplinary team meetings with psychiatrist involvement
  • Initial medication consultations currently allocated 60 minutes
  • Follow-up appointments currently allocated 30 minutes
  • Regular access to experienced clinical colleagues for case discussions and support
  • Clinical supervision, audit and ongoing professional development
  • A supportive team environment with opportunities to share knowledge and contribute ideas
  • Opportunities to participate in the continued development and improvement of the ADHD pathway

Although the position is predominantly remote, there is regular interaction with clinical colleagues through daily huddles, multidisciplinary meetings and online communication channels.

  • Full-time employment preferred
  • Three or four full working days per week considered for suitable candidates
  • Initial two-day induction in London
  • Occasional attendance in London for clinical training, development days or team meetings
