Due to continued growth, we require a High Voltage (HV) Technician to join our expanding team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of high voltage systems across various sites and projects. You’ll take ownership of planning, coordination, testing, and safety documentation for HV works, while also providing technical expertise and mentorship within the team. Successful candidates will be working across a mixture of sectors including renewables, banking, commercial office, and industrial environments, and should have at least 3 years’ previous experience in this area. Applicants must have an ECS/CSCS card, hold full electrical qualifications, and possess knowledge of testing and inspecting. You’ll work both independently and as part of a wider collaborative team, demonstrating professionalism, initiative, and a proactive approach to safety. Effective communication and a customer-focused attitude are essential, as you’ll liaise regularly with clients, contractors, and colleagues across multiple projects. Key Responsibilities * Plan, coordinate, and execute high voltage works in line with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. * Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, promoting development and ensuring adherence to safety standards. * Carry out risk assessments and develop safe systems of work for all HV activities. * Collaborate with internal departments — operations, maintenance, and engineering — to maintain system reliability and integrity. * Serve as a key point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies regarding HV operations and compliance. * Participate in incident investigations and root cause analyses, implementing improvements and corrective actions where required. Qualifications: * Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Competent Person (High Voltage) or in a similar HV role. * Strong understanding of high voltage systems, switching operations, and safety protocols. * Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with sound decision-making under pressure. * Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with technical and non-technical stakeholders. * Proven ability to supervise and mentor others in a technical environment. * Valid ECS Grade Card. * Recognised Apprenticeship / SVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification. * Full, clean UK driving licence. * Previous experience within commercial or industrial projects (minimum 3 years post-qualification). * Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (preferred but not essential).
