Shetland Islands Council offers a temporary part‑time teaching position at Anderson High School, Lerwick, a well‑resourced school serving the Shetland community. Anderson High School is a six‑year school that serves pupils from the Shetland mainland as well as the smaller islands. The school provides accommodation for students who cannot commute daily and offers a supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Hold registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), or have confirmed that you will be registered.
  • Relevant qualifications and experience in Physical Education.
  • Vision, energy, initiative, good communication skills and self‑discipline.

Additional Information

  • The grade of this post is TCHR.
  • Rate of pay includes Distant Islands Allowance of £1.8219 per hour.
  • Temporary Part Time post for 21.0 Hours per Week.
  • Temporary contract until 15 August 2027.
  • Expected start date is 17 August 2026.
  • Preferred candidates will join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to the offer.
  • You must be registered with the GTCS prior to starting.
  • We would welcome applications from flexible route probationers.
  • A relocation package does not apply to this post.
  • Interview expenses will be paid within Shetland.
  • We are happy to discuss flexible working.
