An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teacher of Mathematics to join Sandwick Junior High School. The school is located in Sandwick, Shetland, with an all-year-round early years provision and out-of-school care for Primary pupils. The Secondary department serves S1 to S4 and feeder primaries include Sandwick, Cunningsburgh and Dunrossness. The school roll is around 200 pupils, and it is managed by the Head Teacher alongside Depute Head Teachers and specialist staff. The school benefits from extensive grounds and active Pupil Councils and Parent/Carer Council.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Mathematics teaching as part of the school’s Secondary department (S1–S4).
- Contribute to a caring, supportive school community and promote inclusion and positive learning outcomes for pupils.
- Engage with the school’s Outside Learning opportunities and use the school grounds for learning when appropriate.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Relevant teaching qualifications for Mathematics.
- Registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) or confirmation of plans to obtain registration if not currently registered.
- Commitment to safeguarding and welfare requirements, including PVG scheme membership or update prior to formal offer.
- Flexible approach to working arrangements and willingness to join a PVG scheme as required.
- We welcome applications from flexible route probationers.
