Adult Services – What We Do
We support individuals with additional needs due to learning disability or autism.
We help them to live independently in their own homes, attend day support and meaningful activities, or receive short break respite.
- What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide direct support to individuals in a variety of settings.
- Ensure individuals receive high standards of care and support to retain their independence and dignity.
- Support people with varying abilities and complex needs, enabling them to achieve their goals, identified priorities and personal outcomes.
- Work as part of a team to provide the highest quality of care.
This may include intimate personal care, developing daily living skills, training, social activities and other meaningful activity in accordance with their identified needs and wishes, whilst supporting individuals, as far as possible, to avoid danger and harm.

They will need to travel to undertake duties.
A full driving licence is highly desirable and may be essential depending on the service demands.

- Grade I
- Career graded – salary and progression depend on experience and qualifications.
- Rate of pay inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.5523 per hour.
- Permanent part‑time post for 35.0 hours per week, 52.18 weeks per year.
- Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo an update before a formal offer is made.
- Successful candidate must complete registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) at the start of the post.
- No relocation package applies to this post.
- Interview expenses will be paid within Shetland.
- Flexible working arrangements are possible.
