Permanent part-time (30 hours per week) position based at Anderson High School, Lerwick, Shetland.
Responsibilities
- Support the care, welfare and education of children and young people with additional support needs (ASN) in accordance with relevant legislation, policy and guidelines.
- Work with individual children or groups within a department, a mainstream class or an early learning and childcare setting.
- Collaborate with teachers, other professionals and therapists (e.g. Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Educational Psychologist, members of the Educational Outreach Service) to implement individualised education programmes (IEPs).
Qualifications and Requirements
- Assessment will determine if the candidate meets the person specification for a qualified or unqualified Learning Support Worker role.
- Preferred candidates must join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or update their PVG status before a formal offer is made.
- Not eligible for UK visa sponsorship – please apply only if you do not require sponsorship.
- Provide two references from persons not related to you.
Salary and Benefits
- Pay rate inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance (£1.55 per hour).
- Holiday: 39 weeks per year plus 6.24 weeks pro-rata, taken during school holidays.
- Paid interview expenses from within Shetland.
- Flexible working arrangements available.
