To assist in the management and education of children and young people with additional support needs (ASN). A Learning Support Worker may work with any child or group of children either within a department or within a mainstream class, and collaborate with teachers and other professionals such as Speech, Occupational, Physical Therapists, Child Psychologists and other specialists.
Work around an individual child is based on an individualized education programme which all staff follow. This post is temporary part‑time, 30.0 hours per week, 39 weeks per year plus 6.24 weeks pro‑rata holidays. The contract is for approximately 12 months, covering maternity leave, and will terminate after the return to work or resignation.
The grade of this post is F/G. It is not career graded; candidates will be assessed as a Qualified or Unqualified Learning Support Worker, which determines salary, rate of pay (inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.5523 per hour) and duties.
Preferred candidates must join or update the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme before formal offer. No UK visa sponsorship available; please only apply if you do not require it. No relocation package; interview expenses paid within Shetland. Flexible working arrangements are available. This vacancy does not meet Home Office rules for UK visa sponsorship. Applicants are required to provide references from two unrelated individuals.
