The Living Systems Institute (LSI) at the University of Exeter leads groundbreaking interdisciplinary science to understand and influence the behaviour of cells, the fundamental units of life. By merging biology and medicine with advanced physical sciences and mathematical modelling, LSI explores mechanisms that operate across scales, from atoms to organisms. This integrative approach delivers innovative insights that can address key challenges in healthcare and biological sciences.

This is a full-time, on-site role based at the University of Exeter for a Postdoctoral Researcher. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct advanced laboratory research, analyse experimental data, and actively contribute to the design and implementation of new projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
  • Publishing high-impact research findings
  • Mentoring students or junior researchers
  • Engaging with teaching initiatives
  • Participating in relevant academic activities within the Living Systems Institute

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Laboratory Skills and a strong ability to conduct comprehensive experiments and manage laboratory workflows
  • Solid Research capabilities with experience in conducting scientific investigations and contributing to publications
  • Strong Data Analysis skills to interpret complex datasets and apply statistical or computational methods
  • Understanding or experience in Physics to contribute to interdisciplinary projects and methodologies
  • Experience in Teaching or mentoring students and junior researchers, as well as communicating scientific concepts effectively
  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline, such as Biological Sciences, Physics, or a related field
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment and demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience in developing or contributing to research proposals would be advantageous
