Carpenter & Joiner – Public Buildings Specialist — Location: Coatbridge — Salary: Up to £35,431.13 per annum — Hours: Full-Time, Permanent | 40 hours per week (08:00–16:30 Monday–Friday) — Package: Company Van, Fuel Card & Uniform Provided

About the Role
Mears Group continues to invest in the North Lanarkshire community through long-term, sustainable partnerships. As part of our dedicated team, you will help maintain and improve essential public buildings that serve children, families, and the wider community. Your day-to-day work will play a key role in keeping these spaces safe, functional, and welcoming.
Your responsibilities
- Carrying out a full range of carpentry and joinery tasks across schools, libraries, and sports facilities
- Installing, repairing, and maintaining doors, windows, kitchen units, and other fixtures
- Specialist Ironmongery work, including fitting and maintaining locks, handles, hinges, door closers, and fire door safety hardware
- Responding to reactive maintenance jobs and planned upgrades with high attention to detail
- Delivering a courteous and professional service in live environments, often during school or public opening hours
Key Criteria
- Proven Carpentry & Joinery experience
- Strong Ironmongery knowledge, ideally including fire doors and access control systems
- Experience working in public settings or social housing (schools, leisure centres, libraries, etc.)
- Full UK driving licence
- Excellent customer care skills and a commitment to safe working practices
