What does a life as a Plumber look like:
As a Plumber you will be installing, commissioning and de-commissioning, repairing, and maintaining gas systems and appliances. You will assist customers to understand how their appliances work and how to manage their energy usage efficiently.
The apprenticeship course will cover the following:
- Apply Health and Safety and Environmental Legislation in the Building Services Engineering Sector
- Establish and Maintain Good working Relationships in the Building Services Engineering Sector
- Perform Electrical Work on Mechanical Building Services Systems
- Install and Test Plumbing and Heating Systems
- Service and Maintain Plumbing and Heating Systems
- Commission Plumbing Systems
- Decommission Plumbing Systems
- Install Sheet Weathering Protection
- Emergent Technologies
What do you need to be a successful applicant:
- Potential to work at SCQF level 7
- The ability and desire to learn and develop a thorough knowledge of the skills, technology and safety procedures required to carry out the full range of tasks.
- You must live in a commutable distance to independently travel to and from the branch
- Strong communication skills
- Be able to establish and maintain good customer/client relationships
What will I learn through the apprenticeship programme?
The Plumbing and Domestic Heating apprenticeship programme takes between 18 and 36 months to complete depending on previous experience and qualifications. At the end of your apprenticeship, you will be registered on the GasSafe register for each appliance in which you are competent to undertake work on.
Roles in Gas engineering are physical in nature and may involve lifting and moving equipment, working at height, and working in confined spaces.
