Key Responsibilities
- Supplier Strategy & Tendering: Lead supplier strategy based on quarterly demand forecasts and project pipeline. Oversee tendering activities for core materials to ensure best value, quality, and scalability. Develop and maintain a high-performing, cost-effective supplier base. Continuously review supplier performance, pricing, and capability.
- Specification & Commercial Alignment: Work closely with Commercial and Design teams to align material specifications with budget constraints. Support selection of preferred manufacturers and materials based on tender outcomes. Ensure all procurement decisions balance cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Procurement Oversight & Governance: Oversee procurement activities executed by Procurement Coordinators. Ensure supplier selection follows agreed tender rankings and commercial frameworks. Maintain governance over purchase orders, approvals, and material budgets via systems (e.g., NetSuite). Ensure accurate and consistent communication of specifications, suppliers, and purchasing processes to project teams.
- Material Planning & Project Support: Ensure accurate material planning based on design specifications and project requirements. Support project teams with clear guidance on call-off processes, suppliers, and lead times. Monitor material availability and proactively mitigate risks to project delivery.
- Supplier Management & Performance: Act as escalation point for supplier-related issues, delays, and performance concerns. Drive resolution of supply challenges to minimise disruption to project timelines. Provide feedback loops to suppliers to improve service, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Cost Control & Value Optimisation: Own cost control across material procurement, ensuring alignment with project budgets and margin targets. Support evaluation and approval of material variations and change requests. Lead sourcing of alternative or specialist materials outside standard tendered lists. Identify opportunities for cost savings, standardisation, and process improvement.
- Continuous Improvement & Supply Chain Development: Strengthen supply chain resilience by onboarding new suppliers where required. Improve procurement processes, systems usage, and reporting visibility. Drive standardisation of materials and suppliers across projects where beneficial.
