Position Overview
LivGreen is entering a pivotal phase of growth. As we scale our retrofit and decarbonisation operations across the UK, we are seeking a high-calibre Financial Controller to join us at an exciting and transformative time for the business. This is not a steady-state finance role. This is an opportunity to build.
You will be a key partner to the CFO, working closely to strengthen financial governance, modernise reporting, and embed robust controls that are scalable, sustainable and fit for the future.
Together, you will:
- Professionalise the finance function
- Elevate the quality of management information
- Strengthen WIP, CVR and project accounting governance
- Build a modern control environment aligned with best practice
- Develop and mentor a growing finance team
- Support the business through its next stage of strategic growth
This is a role for someone who wants more than a month end cycle. It is for someone who wants exposure to board-level thinking, strategic planning, and long-term value creation. There is a clear pathway for progression to Group Financial Controller and, for the right individual, potential Finance Director responsibilities in the future.
If you are ambitious, commercially minded, technically grounded, and excited by the challenge of building a finance function that underpins a fast-growing, purpose-driven business, this could be the defining role of your career.
Key Responsibilities
- Finance Leadership & Control: Lead and manage the full finance function, ensuring high standards across accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and month-end/year-end close processes. Take accountability for the integrity of the balance sheet, ensuring robust reconciliations, controls and audit readiness. Own the preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts, providing clear financial commentary and performance insight to the CFO and leadership team. Ensure statutory compliance across VAT, Corporation Tax, CIS, payroll and all regulatory requirements. Act as the primary finance lead for external audit, tax advisers and HMRC, working closely with the CFO to ensure strong governance.
- Team Management & Development: Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, setting clear objectives, driving performance and building capability as the business scales. Establish clear reporting structures and accountability within the finance function. Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement and professional development. Support succession planning and help shape the future structure of the finance team.
- Strategic Partnership to the CFO: Act as a key partner to the CFO, supporting strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting and scenario modelling. Provide high-quality financial analysis to inform decision-making at senior leadership and Board level. Support the CFO in strengthening financial governance and preparing the business for its next stage of growth.
- Project & Performance Governance: Oversee financial monitoring of projects, ensuring accurate margin reporting and cost control. Maintain oversight of working capital, cashflow forecasting and liquidity management. Ensure appropriate financial controls are embedded across operational teams to support sustainable growth. Identify and implement process improvements to modernise financial operations and enhance efficiency. Ensure finance systems and reporting processes are scalable and fit for future growth. Drive standardisation, consistency and control across all financial processes.
Qualifications
- ACA or ACCA qualified, ideally trained in practice
- 2–5+ years post-qualification experience in industry
- Demonstrable experience operating at Senior Management Accountant, Finance Manager or Financial Controller level
- Experience leading month-end, statutory reporting and audit processes
- Experience managing or mentoring a small finance team
- Strong understanding of working capital, cashflow forecasting and control frameworks
- Proven ability to implement process improvements and strengthen financial governance
Highly Desirable
- Experience within construction, retrofit, renewables, engineering, infrastructure or other project-based industries
- Experience with WIP accounting, contract assets, CVR analysis and project margin control
- Experience in multi-entity environments
- Experience during business growth, transformation or system implementation
