We’re pleased to advertise an opportunity for a Support Worker to join our Supported Housing team at the New Horizons Scheme. This role is ideal for colleagues who are passionate about delivering person‑centred support and helping customers to build independence, confidence and stability within their communities. New Horizons provides emergency supported accommodation for people and families at risk, often with complex support needs, helping people who have fled domestic abuse but would not be able to access communal living refuge accommodation.

As a Support Worker, you’ll work directly with customers with a range of complex needs, supporting them to achieve agreed outcomes in a flexible, responsive and strengths‑based way. No two days are the same, and you’ll need to be comfortable working outside a traditional 9‑5 environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering high‑quality, person‑centred support tailored to individual needs
  • Building positive and professional relationships with customers, colleagues and partner agencies
  • Supporting customers to identify goals and develop personal support plans
  • Promoting independence, inclusion and participation to reduce social isolation
  • Completing risk assessments and managing risk in line with policies and procedures
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service performance targets
  • Working safely, including lone working, while maintaining clear professional boundaries

This is a full‑time role working 37 hours per week – working pattern is Monday – Friday, with one weekend worked every six weeks. This is a field‑based role covering our services across mid‑west Cornwall.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Experience of supporting people with a range of needs and backgrounds
  • Ability to build effective, professional working relationships
  • Confidence working independently, including lone working
  • Ability to make informed decisions and take accountability for actions
  • Experience of maintaining accurate records and action plans
  • Willingness to work flexibly to meet service and customer needs
Knowledge
  • Understanding of working with vulnerable people
  • Awareness of safeguarding, professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in service delivery
Qualifications
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy
  • Safeguarding training or willingness to complete
Desirable Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  • Experience of housing‑related or supported housing services
  • Knowledge of training, employment, education or social inclusion opportunities
  • Experience of promoting independence and self‑determination
Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant field
