LiveWest’s number one priority is keeping our customers safe. As a Fire Safety Compliance Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the homes we manage meet all fire safety legislation and best practice, and that customers understand the work we’re doing to keep them safe.
We commission around 1,500 Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) each year across our blocks of flats and other relevant buildings. You will review these assessments, translate actions into clear specifications of work, and support delivery through our in‑house teams and external contractors, always putting safety first.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interrogate Fire Risk Assessments, challenging assessors where required
- Produce clear specifications of work and raise orders to address FRA actions
- Carry out site inspections and audits to confirm remedial works are completed correctly
- Provide expert fire safety advice to colleagues, contractors and customers
- Support the Fire Safety Operations Manager and Duty Holder with reports and analysis
- Keep up to date with fire safety legislation, guidance and best practice
Job Details
This is a full‑time permanent role working 37 hours per week. Hybrid working is available for this role, working at least 2 days per week from our Exeter office, dependent on business need.
About The Candidate
Essential skills and experience
- Experience working in a fire safety or property compliance role
- Ability to review Fire Risk Assessments and manage remedial actions
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
- Experience producing clear written reports and providing professional advice
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Essential knowledge
- Fire safety legislation including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- Building regulations, British Standards and residential fire safety guidance
- Health and safety legislation relevant to housing and the built environment
Essential qualifications
- NEBOSH or equivalent qualification in building or fire safety
Desirable skills, knowledge and qualifications
- Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety
- Risk Assessor qualification
- IOSH qualification
- Experience within social housing or a registered social landlord
- Commitment to working towards further professional fire safety qualifications
