Are you looking to progress to a B6 Occupational Therapy position in an innovative, multi-functional team where you can expand your skills across urgent care, community hospital therapy, hospital discharge pathways and community rehabilitation? We are based at Abbeyrise in the centre of the historic and beautiful town of Tavistock and our offices are alongside the river, providing a relaxing and scenic environment for those lunch time breaks. There are also a number of tasty food outlets for those days when you just want to treat yourself and order lunch in. At Abbeyrise, we generally have a Friday food delivery and take time out together; this provides a good opportunity to check in with each other and ensure everyone is ready for putting their work aside and enjoying the weekend.
Rehabilitation is delivered in a number of ways:
- Urgent Care and Home First - urgent intervention service delivered by Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Therapy Support Workers. Close working relationships with the Health & Social Care Hub, Rapid Response Services, District Nurses and Healthy Ageing Team.
- Rehabilitation within the patients' own home assessing and treating a variety of conditions e.g. neurological, long term conditions, orthopaedic, frail elderly, multi-pathology, falls.
- Tavistock Hospital; GP led 15 bedded rehabilitation Unit, working as a team of Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Nurses, Therapy Support Worker and Social Worker.
Main duties of the job include:
- Providing caseload supervision for junior staff.
- Participating in student education and being actively involved in service developments.
- Flexible working across all service areas will be an expectation of the post.
- Ability to travel to rural locations to meet patients.

Job responsibilities include:
- Prioritising the day to day management of own caseload and that of the team.
- Comprehensive assessment, treatment and evaluation of patients including those with complex presentations.
- Assessing, prescribing and authorising aids and adaptive equipment.
- Planning and reviewing treatment programmes in close liaison with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Providing written communication to outside agencies and charitable bodies to support the need for services and equipment on discharge from the service.
Person Specification:
- Experience working as a member of an MDT with the ability to work flexibly.
- Extensive clinical experience in health and/or social care.
- Documented evidence of CPD.
- Management, leadership and supervisory skills.
- Qualifications: Diploma / degree in Occupational Therapy.
