Providing a site assistant service for Cumberland Centre. Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, tidiness and general appearance within all LSW premises. Carry out all cleaning duties as directed by Facilities Management Team within all LSW premises. This post operates 7 days per week including bank holidays between 6am and 10pm on a rotational shift pattern. Must be able to work alone and on own initiative as well as part of a team. Reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act will be taken into account for the successful applicant.

Main duties of the job include:

  • Delivering catering supplies to all departments.
  • Removing all waste and safely disposing in allocated bin areas ensuring bin area is clean and tidy.
  • Safely moving full bins to storage area when required and replacing with empty bins.
  • Emptying and disposing of contents of external bin receptacles and replacing with new bin bag daily.
  • Collecting and delivering clean and soiled laundry bags and linen and storing in correct facilities.
  • Storing C.S.S.D. bags and laboratory specimens in appropriate area to await collection.
  • Reporting faults in equipment and the fabric of the building, recording and logging faults and monitoring to ensure work is completed.
  • Assisting in the moving of equipment and patients to various departments as required.
  • Delivering and connecting medical gases to departments when required.
  • Collecting and delivering patient medical notes directly to individual departments.
  • Receiving all stores/goods including stationery and distributing to all departments/units on a weekly basis or as and when delivered.
  • Ensuring the safe delivery from Pharmacy of all medication to a person in charge in the correct department/unit.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and carrying out routine checks on site assistant vehicles as per instructions from Transport Department.
  • Replenishing all domestic store cupboards with stock for cleaning.
  • Providing annual leave/sickness absence cover to the Site Assistant/Courier Driver at Cumberland Centre, Glenbourne, Mount Gould Hospital and Postal Worker at Mount Gould Hospital.

All Site Assistant Duties include:

  • Cleaning corridors, stairs, floors and lifts.
  • Cleaning clinical areas, X-Ray Department, Minor Injuries Unit, Minor Operations Theatre, toilets, and reception areas.
  • Emptying and cleaning refuse bins and cigarette stub holders.
  • Deep cleaning of floors, ceilings, light diffusers, extractor fans, ventilation grills, cooker hoods and walls.
  • Cleaning grounds and gardens, ensuring all entrances are clear of leaves and litter at all times.

Health & Safety responsibilities include:

  • Locking and alarming buildings, ensuring all units are properly secured at nights and weekends.
  • Responding to emergency alarms including fire/ambulance.
  • Testing fire alarms on a weekly basis at Cumberland Centre or as directed by Hotel Services Management Team.
  • Assisting any contractors who attend site.

Person Specification includes:

  • Sufficient agility to be able to alight to and from a vehicle many times a day loading and unloading a vehicle with mail and parcels.
  • Full driving licence must be held for a minimum of two years.
  • Able to communicate with staff, service users and visitors to LSW sites.
  • Knowledge of the Highway Code and Road Traffic Law.
  • Able to work as part of a team, approachable calm personality.
