Up to 37.5 hours per week. Livewell Southwest is looking for a motivated and forward-thinking Physiotherapist to join our 6 monthly rotational scheme in a variety of settings across Plymouth. This post would suit a newly qualified physio (to benefit from our preceptorship programme) or an experienced Band 5 looking to broaden their experience. The rotation is integrated with our neighbouring organisation, University Hospitals Plymouth, to provide both acute and community rotations, making the rotation a fantastic opportunity to gain a wide ranging experience of Physiotherapy services. Therefore, we recommend you submit your application at the earliest opportunity Main duties of the job The posts will enable the successful applicant to gainexperience in a range of clinical settings including MSK Outpatients, Urgentcare, Neurology (both inpatient and outpatient), Respiratory, Intensive care,Trauma and Orthopaedics and Community Rehabilitation. You will be required to travel independently in a timely manner across Livewell sites and community locations, including the transport of heavy and large equipment, in areas not served by public transport. The individual will be required to participate in 7 day, evening andbank holiday working. In all these areas you will be supported by experiencedclinicians who are specialists in their field. These posts will develop your clinical skills within avariety of settings and participate in current service developments. Keyclinical elements of the posts include: assessment and treatment, workingjointly with Occupational Therapists and other Health and Social CareProfessionals. Job responsibilities Job Summary To perform physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme. To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical supervision sessions, peer review, case conferences. Access to advice and support from specialist physiotherapists is available on a daily basis; clinical work is not routinely evaluated. To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner. To supervise, educate and assess the performance of physiotherapy students and Therapy support staff. This would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification. To participate in 7 day and Bank Holiday working rota and extended hours (e.g., evenings til 8pm) when required. MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibility for People Management To be an active member of the in-service training programme by attendance at and participation in, in-service training programmes, tutorials, individual training sessions, external courses and peer review. This will include teaching and contributing to planning training when appropriate. To be actively involved in professional clinical groups, such as Journal Clubs, CSP Clinical Interest Groups, Peer Review Groups and other professional development activities. To participate in the staff appraisal scheme as an appraiser, when qualified to do so. To attend Student educator training and actively support student placements within the team. To ensure that your own practice and that of staff under your supervision meets the required professional standards of physiotherapy practice. To be responsible for the supervision and co‑ordination of students and assistants on a daily basis. To provide clinical education and training to physiotherapy students to graduate level. Provide support, guidance and training to assistants, including assessing and evaluating competence. To train, supervise and performance manage support staff and students, with assistance from more specialist members of the physiotherapy team. This will include the use of formal appraisal documentation. To take a flexible approach to supporting colleagues in times of caseload pressure, including working with colleagues to maintain clinical cover across the team within the resources available. To provide planned and spontaneous specialist advice and teaching to relatives, carers and other professions and agencies involved in the patients care. Responsibility for financial and/or physical resources. To follow policy and guidance around the security, useability, decontamination, and maintenance of assessment equipment utilised in the clinical setting. To be responsible for the safe and competent use of all gym equipment, electrotherapy equipment and patient appliances and aids used by patients. Ensure that support staff attain competency prior to use of equipment. To ensure New and replacement equipment is not used by self or staff until it has been commissioned in accordance with Livewell Southwest policy. Defective equipment is reported and made safe without delay in accordance with Livewell Southwest procedures.
