The EPMA Lead Nurse is an influential role at the forefront of digital transformation, providing expert clinical leadership to shape how medicines are prescribed and administered across community and mental health services using SystmOne as the EPMA platform. As a trusted subject matter expert, you will ensure that nursing practice, patient safety and real world clinical workflows are embedded into the design, implementation and continuous improvement of SystmOne in a way that reflects the unique needs of the organisation and the populations it serves.
Working with autonomy and authority, you will drive excellence in medicines management, lead engaging training and competency development, and play a key role in strengthening digital medicines governance alongside multidisciplinary colleagues. Main duties of the job include:
- Providing expert clinical leadership to support staff in the safe and effective use of electronic prescribing systems, with a particular focus on SystmOne.
- Leading the design and delivery of training and competency programmes, developing superusers and offering clear guidance on complex clinical and digital processes.
- Acting as a key point of contact for EPMA queries across community and mental health services.
- Influencing change, supporting staff development and promoting a culture of safe, high quality, person centred care.
- Contributing to strong governance through involvement in medicines safety processes, audit, risk management and incident review.
- Supporting efficient use of resources, contributing to financial awareness and assisting with service planning and business cases.
- Providing clinical input into system design, configuration, testing and rollout within SystmOne.
- Analysing data, producing reports and supporting policy development, maintaining a strong focus on patient safety and care quality.
All staff are expected to be able and willing to work across a 7 day service.

Job responsibilities include:
- Providing expert support and guidance.
- Designing, organising and delivering training needed for staff.
- Communicating complex clinical and digital information clearly to a range of staff groups.
- Developing a superuser programme, recruiting and coaching EPMA superuser members.
- Ensuring compliance with organisation policies and guidelines.
- Collaborating with colleagues to address complaints and incidents appropriately.
- Promoting the best use and care of resources throughout the organisation.
- Supporting investigation of incidents, complaints and safety events.
- Contributing to audit programmes and monitoring of EPMA-related performance and safety indicators.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge with regards to Data Protection, Patient Confidentiality, Information Sharing Protocols and relevant organisation policies.
Experience required includes:
- Experience of working in a large organisation with a wide range of staffing levels.
- Experience of working in a Mental Health in-patient setting.
- Experience of working with and training a range of staffing groups including clinicians, nursing and managers.
- Experience of delivering multi-disciplinary training.
- Experience of project management and business analysis.
Qualifications required include:
- Degree or equivalent professional nursing qualification.
- NMC registrant.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
