The predicted salary is between 29970 - 36483 € per year.

37.5 hours per week - 12 months Fixed term. This role is only open to those that have completed the Children's Wellbeing Practitioner training. The postholder is responsible for supporting the emotional, psychological and social wellbeing of children and young people with a drive for early intervention, enabling cultural change in the way first contact services can support children and young people with mental health problems. Providing low intensity CBT to young people. In line with the 2015 Future in Mind strategic vision for CAMHS, the post holder will actively promote resilience, prevention and early intervention to children and young people in the community.

The post holder will work with the CAMHS Liaison Practitioners to support children and young people where there is concern about emerging mental health issues or behaviours. The post holder will support the consultation process to the network or directly to the child, young person and their family. The post holder will have an identified role as directed by the liaison practitioner, in further assessment, targeted intervention or group work that would meet the needs of the child or young person. The post holder will deliver training to community services and schools.

Main duties of the job:

  • To work as part of the Early Help Team with children and young people who may present with emerging mental health difficulties.
  • To deliver evidence based targeted interventions in a timely manner.
  • To contribute to the community assessment clinics to ensure that children and young people receive the appropriate interventions.
  • Delivery of group based interventions.
  • To support the delivery of evidence based parenting programmes for children and young people with mental health issues.
  • Ensure planned interventions are implemented effectively and evaluated using Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROMS).
  • Participate in the delivery of training programmes for schools and community services from a portfolio of available CAMHS training.
  • Maintain standards of care to the highest level within available resources.
  • To actively participate in line management with senior and junior members of staff.
  • To maintain confidentiality in respect of the young people at all times.
  • Communicate clearly with children and young people, their families and all other health professionals.
  • Actively participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives, e.g. clinical audit, essence of care or clinical policy development.
  • Ensure that children and young people are encouraged to play a part in decision making.
  • To promote person-centred planning.

Job responsibilities:

  • Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.
  • Assess and support people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery.
  • Undertake patient centred interviews which identify areas where the person wishes to see change and/or recovery and make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.
  • Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department's referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary or step up the person's treatment to high intensity.
  • Provide a range of information and support for evidence based high volume low intensity psychological treatments.
  • Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary where there is consent from the patient and it is appropriate to do so.
  • Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.
  • Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
  • Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.
  • Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with Livewell clinical record keeping policy.
  • Work closely with other members of the team to ensure the Stepped care model is consistent.
  • Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process.
  • Liaise with other agencies and other professionals as part of the patient care plan when clinically relevant.
  • Identify and manage risk with patients.

Professional responsibilities:

  • Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating body, and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health.
  • Ensure that client information is kept confidential, unless there is a need to share information.
  • Keep up to date with NICE recommended treatments for common mental health problems.
  • Ensure clear objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with senior therapists on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development.
  • Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Manager.
  • Participate in individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives.
  • Keep up to date all records in relation to Continuing Professional Development.
  • Attend all Livewell mandatory training relevant to the role at specified times.
  • Attend relevant conferences/workshops in line with identified professional objectives relevant for the role.
  • Regard for others and respect for individual rights of autonomy and confidentiality.

  • Contribute to the development of best practice within the service.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and procedures in relation to Mental Health and Primary Care Services.

Person Specification:

Experience:
  • Experience of working with children and/or young people.
  • Relevant mental health working experience, including voluntary work or expertise gained by experience of mental health problems.
  • Demonstrates high standards in written communication.
  • Able to write clear reports and letters.
  • Experience of working in Primary Care.
  • Experience of managing own caseload.
  • Experience of using clinical outcome measures to inform practice.
  • Evidence of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties.
  • Evidence of working in the local community.
  • Experience of working with computerized CBT.
  • Experience of working with 16-18 year olds.
Qualifications:
  • A candidate will need to have completed the Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) IAPT training to be eligible to apply for this role.
  • Evidence of educational qualifications plus experience equivalent to degree level.
  • Evidence of working with people who have lived with common mental health difficulties.
  • Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or within a psychological therapy.
  • Psychology degree.
Knowledge:
  • Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care.
  • Understanding of the role of supervision in clinical practice.
  • Ability to reflect on own work and personal/professional development.
  • Ability to use clinical supervision and personal development positively and effectively.
  • Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health.
  • Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems.
