To improve the psychological health and wellbeing of children and young people by providing highly specialist clinical psychology services and clinical leadership to the CAMHS Children in Care (CIC) Pathway that is safe, effective, cost efficient, timely and accessible, in accordance with national and local priorities and responsive to the needs and views of local children, young people and their families.
This will include clinical supervision of professionals in the CAMHS CIC pathway who provide specialist assessment and intervention for children and young people who are particularly vulnerable; are at increased risk of developing complex mental health problems; can find it hard to form secure attachments and have frequently experienced abuse, trauma, and loss in their early years. There is a higher incidence of neuro-developmental disorders, speech and language or specific learning difficulties.
The post holder will be providing a highly specialist mental health service to children, young people, their families, and foster carers where there are identified mental health problems.
Main duties of the job:
- The post holder will organise and provide direct specialist psychological assessments for children or young people with complex mental health needs.
- The post holder will be responsible for developing formulations and appraising the suitability of various forms of psychological intervention.
- A range of specialist assessment techniques will be used including psychometric testing, specialist neuro developmental and attachment assessments.
- The post holder will organise, develop, provide and manage psychological interventions to individuals or groups.
- A range of psychological interventions will be provided to children and young people and their families.
- The post holder will also be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of this work.
