Clinical Education Specialist – Genetics & Functional Medicine
Hybrid (Edinburgh based)
Clinical Education
Permanent
Are you passionate about genetics, nutrigenomics and personalised healthcare – and equally passionate about helping other practitioners make sense of complex clinical information?
Regenerus is looking for a Clinical Education Specialist to join our experienced Clinical Education team. This is a specialist role for someone with a strong background in genetics and nutrigenomics, combined with hands‑on experience of functional medicine and clinical practice. You’ll work directly with healthcare practitioners, helping them interpret DNA and functional testing and understand how genetic variants, biochemical pathways, biomarkers and an individual patient’s presentation fit together.
It’s a role that combines clinical education, practitioner support, research and scientific thinking – with plenty of opportunity to deepen and broaden your own expertise along the way.
Regenerus is an all‑in‑one platform and community for healthcare practitioners, helping clinicians deliver faster, more accurate and personalised care through advanced diagnostics, technology, education and clinical support.
We believe the best personalised healthcare comes from looking at the whole picture – bringing together a patient’s background and symptoms with their genetics and the biomarkers revealed through functional diagnostic testing.
Alongside access to an extensive range of laboratory testing, we provide expert‑led education and clinical support to help practitioners translate complex information into meaningful, actionable insights.
What you’ll be doing
A big part of your role will be supporting practitioners using our DNA Clinical Reports and functional testing. You’ll provide one‑to‑one virtual support, helping practitioners understand what their results mean, how different findings connect, and – importantly – where the evidence does and doesn’t support a particular interpretation.
You’ll also:
- Provide expert educational support around DNA, nutrigenomics and functional testing.
- Help practitioners understand SNPs, gene function, biochemical pathways and gene–environment interactions in the context of individual patients.
- Respond to practitioner questions clearly, thoughtfully and with an evidence‑based approach.
- Develop your expertise across our wider laboratory portfolio, including hormone, gastrointestinal, organic acid and blood chemistry testing.
- Contribute to webinars, workshops, training sessions and practitioner education.
- Help develop and review Regenerus Clinical Reports and associated educational content.
- Keep abreast of emerging research in genetics, nutrigenomics, biomarkers and personalised healthcare, critically evaluating its clinical relevance.
- Work with colleagues across Clinical Education, Product and Marketing to ensure clinical and scientific information is accurate and communicated responsibly.
- Represent Regenerus at conferences and practitioner events from time to time.
What we’re looking for
Expertise in genetics, genomics or nutrigenomics is fundamental to this role. You’ll need to be comfortable moving beyond simply identifying genetic variants and be able to consider their relevance alongside biochemical pathways, functional biomarkers, symptoms and wider clinical context.
You’ll also bring:
- A recognised qualification in nutritional therapy, nutrition, functional medicine or another relevant healthcare discipline.
- Formal functional medicine training or substantial experience applying functional medicine principles in practice.
- At least two years’ relevant clinical experience.
- Experience using genetics or nutrigenomics as part of clinical case management.
- A strong understanding of SNP interpretation, gene function, nutritional biochemistry, physiology and gene–environment interactions.
- Experience interpreting functional laboratory results within the wider clinical picture.
- The ability to critically evaluate scientific literature and distinguish established clinical evidence from emerging or mechanistic evidence.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to make complex genetics and biochemistry understandable and useful to practitioners.
- Confidence working directly with healthcare professionals.
- The organisation and self‑motivation to work effectively in a primarily remote role.
- It would be particularly useful if you also have advanced or postgraduate training in functional medicine, genetics, genomics or nutrigenomics, or experience with functional laboratory panels such as DUTCH, GI360 or similar.
- Experience in practitioner education, clinical mentoring, webinars, professional training or producing clinical educational content would also be an advantage.
You’ll be joining a growing organisation working at the intersection of diagnostics, technology, clinical education and personalised healthcare.
You’ll work alongside people with significant clinical and scientific expertise, while having the opportunity to develop your own knowledge across a wider range of functional testing and emerging diagnostics.
We offer a company pension, generous holiday allowance, health insurance, ongoing CPD and education, and a personal testing allowance.
Most importantly, this is an opportunity to use your expertise in a practical way – helping healthcare practitioners navigate complex information thoughtfully, responsibly and with the individual patient firmly in view.
This role is primarily remote, 4 or 5 days per week, with some in‑office attendance in Edinburgh, plus occasional industry events.
- Private Medical Insurance via Vitality
- Eye Tests
- Functional Health Tests
- Company Pension
- Bonus Scheme
- Generous Annual Leave & Bonus Holidays
- Social Events
