As a Technical Business Analyst at Livestock Information, you’ll be right at the centre of shaping digital services that matter. You’ll work across the organisation to turn complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements that power great digital products. You’ll bring people together — from stakeholders and product teams to architects and developers — to explore ideas, define outcomes, and design scalable, future-proof solutions. Using tools like BPMN, you’ll uncover opportunities to improve how we work, while supporting delivery teams to refine backlogs and build solutions that deliver real value. It’s a fast-moving, collaborative role that blends technical know-how, business insight, and strong communication — and gives you the chance to make a genuine impact through the services you help deliver.
Responsibilities
- Conducting detailed business and technical requirements analysis in collaboration with business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Eliciting, analysing, validating, and documenting business requirements to ensure a clear understanding of needs and desired outcomes.
- Translating business requirements into clear, structured, and testable functional and non-functional requirements.
- Supporting the design of scalable and sustainable IT solutions that meet business needs, working closely with architects and development teams.
- Modelling current and future business processes using BPMN or similar frameworks to identify improvement opportunities.
- Acting as a key liaison between business units and technical teams, ensuring clear, consistent communication throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Collaborating with Product Owners and Architects to understand product roadmaps, priorities, and technical constraints.
- Supporting the development and refinement of product backlogs, including epics, features, and user stories, ensuring they are well-defined and ready for development.
- Working with development teams during delivery to clarify requirements and support correct implementation.
- Participating in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Documenting business processes, user journeys, and functional designs to support solution development and change adoption.
- Supporting data-related analysis required to inform requirements and solution design, working alongside data and reporting specialists where appropriate.
- Contributing to service design and business change activities to support smooth transition into live operation.
- Identifying and documenting risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, and decisions related to requirements and scope.
- Supporting delivery planning and progress tracking in collaboration with Project Managers or Delivery Leads.
- Providing walkthroughs or demonstrations of functionality to stakeholders to support understanding and acceptance.
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in processes, tools, and ways of working.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience and a strong understanding of business analysis principles, practices, and methodologies.
- Experience working within organisations operating under ISO27001 and ISO20000 service management standards.
- Experience working with Azure-based cloud services and familiarity with the GDS Service Manual.
- Proven ability to undertake business analysis for innovative and impactful digital or technology-enabled products.
- Experience writing SQL queries and confidently exploring data across multiple data warehouses, databases and Azure container environments.
- Experience working in agile delivery environments, using tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps to manage requirements and backlogs.
- Experience creating, maintaining, and refining product backlogs and requirements documentation.
- Strong working knowledge of business analysis tools and techniques, including BPMN for process modelling.
- Experience collaborating with development teams and solution architects to support effective product design and delivery.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to stay current with relevant IT developments, trends, and emerging technologies.
