The Technical Assistant provides administrative, technical, and coordination support to the Technical Department to ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and compliance of the managed fleet. The role supports superintendents in documentation, reporting, procurement coordination, maintenance tracking, and class/statutory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Technical Superintendents in daily fleet management activities
- Support planned maintenance system (PMS) updates, tracking, and follow-up
- Maintain and organize technical records, certificates, manuals, and drawings
- Coordinate with vessels on technical issues, repairs, and maintenance schedules
- Assist in arranging repairs, dry-dock activities, and attendance of service engineers
- Prepare purchase requisitions, track spares, consumables, and service orders
- Liaise with vendors, shipyards, and classification societies as required
- Monitor vessel certificates, surveys, and compliance requirements
- Support budget tracking, cost control, and invoice verification
- Assist with incident reports, technical investigations, and follow-up actions
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ISM, and regulatory requirements
- Support ad-hoc assignments as directed by the Technical Superintendent or Senior Superintendent
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Maritime Studies
- 1–3 years’ experience in ship management, technical office, or marine operations
- Basic understanding of ship machinery, PMS, and marine regulations
- Good coordination and communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
- Team player with a proactive and learning-oriented attitude
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with PMS and procurement systems
- Prior sailing experience or shipyard exposure (advantage)
- Familiarity with Class and Flag requirements
