Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust specialises in the health of women and babies – both within the hospital and out in the community. We are looking to recruit a Band 5 Nurse to become an integral member of our Gynaecology Nursing Team. This role offers opportunities to develop a variety of skills across our services and we welcome both newly qualified and experienced nurses to apply. Gynaecology experience is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Develop specialist knowledge, skills and competence in caring for patients in the general gynaecology/Oncology day case area with some rotation onto the inpatient ward to support training and development.
  • Provide nursing care to individual patients and support patients and family members pre- and post-operatively using the Enhanced Care Pathway approach.
  • Care for patients admitted through our emergency department, managing a variety of conditions including pregnancy-related complications and miscarriage.
  • Provide ongoing care for patients with palliative diagnoses and support symptom management for patients with cancer; manage end-of-life care and support complex discharges.
  • Work as part of a team to support the organisation and operational management of service delivery.
  • Act as an ambassador for the 6 Cs (Care, Compassion, Competence, Communication, Commitment, Courage).
  • Supervise and teach non-registered, newly registered and newly appointed staff with support from senior team members.
  • Undertake an educational role, a link nurse role and/or cascade training as you establish in the post.

Qualifications and attributes

  • Registered Nurse (Band 5) with excellent communication skills and an ability to handle difficult situations sensitively and make decisions using professional judgement.
  • Enthusiastic and able to demonstrate our trust values CAREL and the be kind approach.
  • Willingness to develop in a division that fosters a fair and just culture and prioritises health and wellbeing.
