Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Midwife in the role of Public Health Lead Midwife, leading on the agenda within the maternity service to support mothers to be to improve their health, and therefore have an improved impact on the health of their unborn child.

The post holder will work in partnership with service users, the maternity team and local stakeholders to improve and protect health and well-being, reducing health inequalities and improving the health of the families.

Responsibilities

  • Influence practice, policies and strategies within the service, the trust and within the local health economy.
  • Develop in collaboration with other specialist midwives the most appropriate care pathways to have the most effective and efficient impact.
  • Work in partnership with service users, the multi-disciplinary team and local stakeholders to improve and protect health and wellbeing, and improve the health of families in the Liverpool City Region, contributing to improving population health and reducing health inequalities within maternity services.
  • Focus on improving outcomes of women with modifiable risk factors such as smoking, obesity and breastfeeding, and develop and implement processes to secure year-on-year increases in uptake of immunisation.
  • Assist in the project management of the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation process.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Band 7 level role.
  • Experience in maternity and public health leadership, with ability to influence practice, policies and strategies across multiple organisations.
