We have a new and exciting opportunity for a proactive and resourceful Fabric Support Platform Engineer to join our Data team. You will play a key role within the Fabric centre of excellence, owning Fabric support, administration, and capacity capabilities as the SME for the Fabric data platform. A chance to influence and coordinate a virtual team of engineers to ensure clear incident management and effective communication for our data migration projects. The role will be based out of our Bournemouth office with presence required once a month.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1st line support for any Fabric issues identified through proactive monitoring of scheduled and unscheduled jobs and performance.
- Ensure stakeholder management, engagement and collaboration across SI projects and Programmes.
- Manage support and administration tickets and provide effective communication of issues, incident management, best practice and advice our Fabric community.
- Manage Power BI reporting performance via usage stats and user engagement.
- Implement, review and periodically audit all access management and workspace management protocols including controls, adhering to the risk control framework.
- Make recommendations for continuous improvement where possible such as Fabric tenant settings and any other features being rolled out by Microsoft.
- Ensure security and governance adherence in all practices.
- Deploy Fabric support and administration protocols and standards including the use of the Fabric Platform communication channels.
- Ensure Fabric workspaces implement best practice, monitoring the environment via the FUAM Fabric Reporting solution, and improving it where required.
- Administer Fabric workspaces and all metadata associated to the workspaces.
- Manage and track workload using an AzDo board.
- Proactively monitor and manage Fabric capacity, track throttling issues, undertake root cause analysis and maintain KPI reporting and communication to all relevant stakeholders.
- Provide Fabric optimisation guidance, educating stakeholders and supporting users to improve efficiency and reduce cost to serve.
- Act as the Fabric SME, proactively engaging with engineers and users while driving continuous improvement across support, administration, and capacity management.
About You
- Demonstrable experience in Fabric or Azure data platform support, administration, capacity and cluster management.
- Proactive approach to communication, issue resolution and stakeholder management.
- Experience of working with cloud data platforms and driving best practices and standards to reduce cost and improve performance.
- Previous exposure to Python and SQL essential, exposure to PowerShell an advantage.
- Proven experience and knowledge of data warehousing, ETL processes, API’s, programming languages and best practice data management and administration.
- Experience on Azure-based BI/MI approaches, in particular the use of Azure, Databricks, Azure Data Factory and Power BI.
- Proven experience of implementing best practices and ensuring governance adherence.
- Demonstrable history of exceptional communication skills with the ability to talk to a non-technical audience, managing expectations, discussing and making recommendations and working with end users on continuous improvement activity.
- Proven ability to thrive in fast paced settings, delivering highly accurate work within tight deadlines.
- Experience of proactively building and maintaining relationships both externally and internally.
- Previous experience of working in the insurance/financial services sector.
