Overview

The Maintenance department is looking to recruit a shift maintenance operative working a 4 on 4 off (24/7) shift pattern within the estates Department. The role will undertake planned and reactive maintenance of essential systems across the diverse services of the Trust estate. You will need to have the ability to analyse faults and undertake rectifications to ensure continuity of service. We are seeking a highly motivated and professional individual who can prioritise workloads and identify potential improvements to operational systems and management processes to increase departmental efficiencies. Responsibilities

  • Obtain the required materials and filter media to undertake planned maintenance of air handling units.
  • Check all Trust plant rooms for leaks, monitor operation of motors, condition of belts, pressure drops across filters and general condition of filters; ensure glass traps are clean and replenished with water and that drains within plant rooms run free.
  • Carry out maintenance on plant such as changing and aligning belts.
  • Report back on inspection findings to Senior Estates Officers, communicating any technical or general issues or concerns. Communicate back if a more specialised inspection is required.
  • Maintain the operation, routine maintenance and testing of all engineering plant and equipment within the Main Boiler House and the remote CHP Energy Centre, as well as general cleaning duties.
  • Monitor boiler fuel supplies and receive deliveries of fuel oil and medical gases as part of daily workload.
  • Undertake unsupervised routine maintenance and minor repair work that does not require a fully qualified tradesperson.
  • Use relevant tools and equipment as necessary.
  • Assist higher skilled grades as required and perform other routine work including labouring as required.
  • As this work requires a high degree of agility, be a reasonably fit individual capable of climbing ladders and accessing underground ducts.
  • Undertake support tasks on wards when required to maintain minimum ward standards, including: clearing blockages to toilets, wash basins, baths, showers and other sanitary equipment; replacing lamps and fluorescent tubes; refixing minor items to walls, doors, furniture, etc.; replacing ceiling tiles; and carrying out minor maintenance in wards/departments and Operating Theatres.

  • Ability to analyse faults and undertake rectifications to ensure continuity of service.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and identify potential improvements to operational systems and management processes.
  • Willingness to undertake maintenance across diverse Trust estates and support tasks as required.
