An Exciting Opportunity to Join Our Dynamic Research Team!
The Human Challenge Facility is seeking a passionate and dedicated Research Nurse to join our dynamic and agile delivery team. You will work in the Human Challenge Facility, an 18-bedded outpatient research space and the new 12-bedded inpatient isolation facility within LSTM. This cutting-edge facility will serve as a focal point for experimental medicine research, focusing on human challenge models to test vaccine and drug safety and efficacy. The HCF will play a pivotal role in the development of new treatments and vaccines, enabling LSTM to continue its global impact on infection treatment and control.
Responsibilities:
- Providing clinical care to study participants during their time in the HCF
- Collecting samples and completing data entry using electronic Case Report Forms (eCRFs)
- Ensuring clinical studies run smoothly, efficiently, and in line with GCP guidelines
- Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and scientists to develop better vaccines and treatments for future generations

The Ideal Candidate:
- Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Immediate Life Support (ILS) trained
- Experience working in clinical research or clinical trials (desirable but not essential)
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- A passion for improving global health through innovative research
- Available to work out of hours including night shifts, weekends and Bank Holidays
Your Workplace: You will work in the Human Challenge Facility at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, part of the Knowledge Quarter. Working Pattern: This role requires flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, night shifts, Bank Holidays, and other out-of-hours shifts. Additional payment covers unsocial hours. While the post is offered on a full-time, permanent subject to funding basis, we will consider applications from candidates seeking part-time hours on a fixed-term contract basis, subject to the needs of the service.
