Project Overview

The School of Engineering and Built Environment seeks to appoint a post‑doctoral Research Fellow to work on a 24‑month research project funded by LEARN Logistics by Kuehne Foundation. The project aims to build capacity to improve higher education skills in Ethiopia and to establish regional universities as local powerhouses in research and teaching related to logistics and supply chain management.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out joint research projects with Ethiopian academics.
  • Guest lecture and engage in academic‑practice projects.
  • Organise reciprocal research stays and curriculum reviews.
  • Co‑supervise Ethiopian students.
  • Establish new ties between LJMU and universities in Ethiopia and possibly the wider region.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree.
  • In‑depth knowledge of logistics and supply chain management with direct application in Ethiopia.
  • Relevant experience in local industrial and academic processes and customs.
  • Network of contacts in private and public sectors to support data collection and information gathering for research activities.
  • Previous participation in curriculum design and review processes.
  • Experience presenting results at meetings.
  • Strong team‑working skills with academics, industrial partners, and research students.
  • Fluency in Amharic and another local Ethiopian language is desirable.
