We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to join Prof Mariani's team (www.mariani-lab.org), based at the LJMU School of Biological & Environmental Sciences, to be a key driver in a new Horizon Europe project: SEA4FUTURE. The research is broadly aimed at improving the sustainability of Mediterranean fisheries and involves 23 institutions in 10 countries. The Liverpool-based team will coordinate work-package 2 - focused on the generation of biodiversity data and complementary interdisciplinary information to enable assessment of fisheries impacts.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for generating eDNA metabarcoding data from fisheries across the Mediterranean.
  • Develop an ambitious sampling design and run laboratory experiments using molecular techniques.
  • Carry out bioinformatics and statistical analyses.
  • Lead academic publications.
  • Engagement in outreach initiatives will also be important.
