We’re looking for an experienced academic leader with strong discipline knowledge in civil and/or mechanical engineering, and the credibility to provide clear subject‑level direction. You’ll bring a relevant degree and either a PhD or equivalent professional/academic experience, alongside a track record of high‑quality teaching and a commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience.

You will be confident shaping and delivering a forward‑looking portfolio, working with Programme Leaders to enhance curriculum, assessment and quality assurance, and ensuring programmes remain professionally aligned. With excellent communication skills and proven line‑management experience, you’ll support colleagues through effective workload planning, development and appraisal, creating a positive, high‑performing team culture.

Most importantly, you’ll share our ambition to strengthen the school’s reputation and impact, helping to build a vibrant culture of research and scholarship, growing enterprise activity and external income, and developing strong relationships with industry and professional bodies. In this role you’ll have the opportunity to shape the future direction of Civil and Mechanical Engineering at LJMU, and make a visible difference to student outcomes, staff development and external engagement.
