About the role

The Journalism Department is seeking an enthusiastic and talented senior lecturer to replace a longstanding team member upon their retirement in August 2026. We have a well‑established, international reputation for delivering high‑quality journalism and sports journalism programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We are looking for a teacher who can lead both practical sessions and academic modules that consider journalism theory and explore contemporary debates in journalism around representation, ethics and the impact of technology.

Key responsibilities

  • Teach across our journalism and sports journalism courses, developing and delivering practical sessions and academic modules that integrate theory and contemporary media practice.

Required qualifications

  • Strong background in journalism, with either substantial experience teaching journalism and/or sports journalism, or substantial relevant professional experience as a practicing journalist combined with a proven commitment to education and training in an industry context.
  • Knowledge of the NCTJ would also be an advantage.
