The Institute of Art and Technology (IAT) is a world-leading centre of excellent at the intersection of digital technology, art and design, drawing upon its 200 years history of pioneering arts research, innovation and real-world impact.
Operating within the Liverpool John Moores University's Strategy 2030 and Research and Knowledge Exchange Plan 2030, IAT is currently delivering Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2029 through its two Units of Assessment - UoA32 and UoA34. Since REF 2021, The Institute of Art and Technology (IAT) has affirmed its position as a world-leading research institute with enhanced research outputs portfolio, Impact, and SPRE (Strategy, People, Research Environment).
We are looking for an IAT Senior Fellow in Research Excellence (Research Staff), part time (0.5 fte), fixed term for 24 months, based at Liverpool School of Art and Creative Industries, Faculty of Society and Culture.
This newly created role is designed to provide strategic leadership informed by disciplinary subject expertise across Art and Design in advising on IAT's research portfolio, external research grant generation, and delivery of REF 2029, working with UoA32 and UoA34 Leads and the IAT Director.
As a member of IAT, you will act as an enabler to the successful achievement of IAT's strategic ambitions contained within its Biennial Review 2025, LJMU and Research Strategy 2030, working in collaboration with colleagues across IAT, Faculty of Society and Culture Research and Knowledge Exchange, and Research Innovation Services (RIS) to enhance delivery of IAT research and impact, towards IAT biennial review 2027 and REF 2029 submission.
You will have a detailed understanding of the REF regulatory framework, policy and requirements. As Senior Fellow in Research Excellence (Research Staff), you will have significant expertise and a strong track record of successful delivery for REF, informed by subject expertise pertinent to UoA32 (Art and Design) and UoA34 (Communication, Cultural and Media Studies, Library and Information Management).
You will demonstrate an ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders, maximising the impact of professional expertise and building strong working relationships, including with other University faculties and service teams.
You will bring an exceptional research portfolio of international quality of research outputs and / or impact in your discipline, contributing to IAT research across Art, Design and Media subject.
