The Subject Recruitment Marketing team is responsible for the development and delivery of subject-based recruitment marketing activity. The team supports LJMU's student recruitment strategy and targets, working with academic colleagues and professional services to co-ordinate activities and messaging. Recruitment Marketing Managers are allocated specific subject areas at Faculty or School level but will operate flexibly to deliver work for the wider team. The role encompasses a broad range of marketing activity from developing content and promotional materials to planning, delivery and evaluation of subject recruitment campaigns across multiple platforms. The post-holder will promote subject-specific recruitment events and support university-wide recruitment activities.

Responsibilities

  • Working in collaboration with the wider Student Recruitment Marketing and Admissions team, Programme Leaders, School Directors and other academic colleagues, lead the development and implementation of the relevant School recruitment marketing plans, ensuring alignment with institutional objectives and external market conditions.
  • Manage allocated recruitment marketing budgets ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Work creatively and collaboratively to solve recruitment challenges effectively and efficiently.
  • Provide expert marketing advice to a wide range of academic colleagues including the Pro Vice Chancellor, attend faculty or school management team meetings when required to report on progress and promote best practice within the subject area of responsibility.
  • Working with colleagues in the Customer Relationships and Insight team, utilise subject based market research and analysis to identify and prioritise recruitment activities and marketing opportunities.
  • Work with the University's chosen digital agency on the creative direction, performance optimisation and evaluation of multi-channel marketing campaigns for allocated subjects and schools.
  • Contribute timely subject-based segmented content for the enquirer and applicant communication plans across platforms including email, SMS, digital and print.
  • Ensure a consistent tone of voice and adhere to the corporate brand and visual identity guidelines in all communications activity.
  • Work with the University's Brand and Design team and external agencies to develop, review and produce promotional materials to agreed deadlines.
  • Work with the Brand and Design team and on occasion external agencies, to oversee the development of high value video and photographic content for use across recruitment materials, social media and digital advertising campaigns.
  • In conjunction with the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Course Information Coordinators and programme leaders, ensure that course information in the allocated subject areas is maintained and up to date using the Courseloop platform.
  • Support academics to engage with training materials and advise when needed.
  • Write and edit the public-facing course web pages to identify the unique selling points of the courses and showcase the student experience.
  • Identify and implement third party subject campaigns through external sites such as Prospects, The Student Room, Findamasters and UCAS where appropriate.
  • Communicate and report campaign and/or activity progress, pulling together a range of data sources e.g. GA4, agency dashboard, social media platforms, email platforms, CRM, UCAS and other third-party dashboards.
  • Procure services and goods in accordance with LJMU's financial regulations and manage the agreed recruitment marketing budget allocated to the subject areas of responsibility.
  • Manage and monitor LJMU secondary social media accounts associated with the subject areas of responsibility to agreed output levels, setting direction and ensuring alignment with institutional priorities.
  • Manage the work of temporary graduate and/or ad hoc student content creators to support with social media and web content for the relevant subject areas, ensuring that work produced is of high quality and in accordance with LJMU guidelines.
  • Work with programme leaders and Recruitment Officers to develop, co-ordinate and promote targeted subject specific recruitment events (virtual and face-to-face) to support recruitment targets.
  • Support Recruitment Officers in delivering large scale student recruitment activities such as Open and Applicant Days.
  • Review recruitment materials, including academic presentations used in recruitment events, to ensure consistency of tone of voice, brand and message in line with the corporate brand and visual identity guidelines.
  • In collaboration with the Outreach team, support with the development of a programme of subject based outreach provision to meet recruitment and widening participation objectives.
  • Keep up to date with news stories, activity and research within allocated subject areas to ensure they feed into student recruitment activities as appropriate.
  • Build strong and effective relationships with key internal stakeholders including the wider Student Recruitment Marketing and Admissions team, Pro-VCs, Directors of Schools, other academic colleagues and professional service teams.

Other duties

  • Attend key institutional recruitment events and activities including open days, applicant days, and support with Confirmation and Clearing.
  • Represent Student Recruitment Marketing and Admissions at appropriate internal and external meetings and working groups as appropriate.
  • Support the work of the wider Subject Recruitment Marketing team as and when required.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade as deemed appropriate by your line manager.
