The Library at LJMU provides a wide range of digital information tools and resources and access to the digital publications needed by all our students, researchers and staff. We support our users in getting the most out of digital content, whether they are consumers or creators, with advice and training, and a high-quality digital experience when using our applications. We have extensive walk-in facilities available to all members of the public.

We are the custodian of the collected outputs of all the University’s researchers, including articles, data and doctoral theses. The library provides training, support and systems for researchers to enable them to achieve their full potential and create a global impact.

You will be enthusiastic, proactive and an experienced leader and you will support the delivery of high-quality, user-focused services across our library spaces. You will play a key operational role in the day-to-day management of our City Campus and Mount Pleasant Campus Libraries, ensuring that spaces are welcoming, inclusive, safe and conducive to study. You will lead and support a team delivering frontline services, ensuring consistent, high-quality user experiences for students and staff across both sites.

You should be educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of academic library services and customer service principles, alongside experience of leading or supervising staff in a customer-facing environment. You will be confident managing operational services, resolving complex enquiries and incidents, and working collaboratively across teams to enhance service delivery.

Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to analyse user feedback and operational data to inform continuous improvement. You should be proactive, solutions-focused and committed to delivering excellent user experiences through innovation and teamwork. A confident approach to using digital systems and flexibility to work across multiple sites is also required.
