Within the School of Engineering and Built Environment in the Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science, we seek to appoint a Lecturer or Teaching Fellow in Construction Technology & Services. This is an exciting opportunity to join an enthusiastic team and play a pivotal role in delivering our accredited programmes across the full spectrum of property. You will join a supportive and ambitious Property and Built Environment team where your contribution will be highly valued, multidisciplinary, and will extend beyond core Building Surveying to support our BSc (Hons) Real Estate, Architectural Technology, and Housing programmes, alongside our postgraduate MSc offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Take on the leadership and delivery of core modules, specifically focusing on Pathology and Inspection and advanced Construction Technology.
  • Lead or co‑lead Sustainable Buildings modules, guiding students through energy assessments, BREEAM/SAP principles, and sustainable retrofit strategies.
  • Act as a support tutor for foundational modules and provide teaching support in Property Development, Real Estate, and Housing.
  • Supervise undergraduate research projects and postgraduate MSc dissertations across a wide variety of built‑environment topics.
  • Act as a Personal Tutor, providing academic and pastoral support to enhance the student experience and career planning.
  • Engage with Industrial Liaison Panels and organise professional body guest speakers and site visits.

Qualifications

  • You will hold a degree in Building Surveying, Building Services Engineering, Real Estate, Architectural Technology, or Housing Studies.
  • Professional accreditation is essential, and you should be a Chartered Member of a relevant body such as RICS, CABE, CIOB, CIBSE, or CIH.
  • You will demonstrate extensive practical experience across the property lifecycle, including diagnosing building defects, structural appraisal, and the management of complex building services.
