Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.

The School of Psychology at LJMU seeks to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in psychology to contribute to our BPS accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. We are looking for an individual who can deliver teaching across any of the core areas of psychology and will particularly welcome applications from those with expertise in health psychology. You will be appointed at Lecturer Grade 7 or Senior Lecturer Grade 8, depending on qualifications and experience.

We are a large department with an excellent reputation for both teaching and research. Our portfolio includes BPS-accredited undergraduate programmes and a wide range of postgraduate taught courses, including Health Psychology. In REF 2021, the School was ranked 37th nationally for research power and was the fourth largest submission from a Post‑92 institution. Our staff currently hold substantial research grants from major funders including Wellcome, NIHR, ESRC, BA, NHS Trusts and charities. Since REF2021, we have produced over 800 publications and received more than 6,000 citations, reflecting the value and reach of our scholarly output.

The School operates a hybrid working policy. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual with research/applied experience, dedicated to providing an outstanding student experience who can demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to help facilitate our continued development and growth.

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction and development support as well as family-friendly policies. This is an exciting time to join the university as we deliver the LJMU Strategy 2030 and its vision of LJMU as an inclusive civic university transforming lives and futures, by placing students at the heart of everything we do.

If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you. Informal enquiries may be made to Professor Helen Poole, (School Director) or to Dr Jennifer Chopra or Dr Ricardo Tejeiro.

LJMU is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and communities irrespective of age, transgender status, disability, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity and religion or belief. All our appointments are made on merit. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the School of Psychology for an interview which will also include a 10 minute presentation to a small group of undergraduate students and staff, and a tour of the department.
